Unpin them...as to unpin them to a shortcut on the desktop or what?

To OP: Google might help. -
i hope that clarifies. -
Can you drag it off?
That just makes a shortcut though and leaves it there.
EDIT: Yeah I didn't know that was what it was called. lol. -
That would duplicate the shortcut to where you drag it.

Do you get anything in the context menu? Or is it locked up.

Your default settings for the Start Menu are to add anything you open or add to it. To get rid of the items on the Start Menu:
1. Right click on the Taskbar
2. Select "Properties"
3. Click on "Start Menu"
4. Both Privacy checkboxes are probably checked. Uncheck both of them.
5. Click on the "Apply" button.
When you open your Start Menu. all previous menu items will be gone except for the permanent items. If you want to remove those, go back through the above steps, except after Step 3 do this:
4. Click on the "Customize" Button.
5. At the bottom of the Customize window are the default options for Start Menu Programs (Show on Start Menu). Unchecking those boxes and clicking on the Apply button will remove those as well. -

Try going to the Windows Classic theme and doing it. If that doesn't work, I'm guessing you patched something wrong.

WOW.. just found the solution.. and it was a simpler than it was.. found it through a lot of googling..
somehow the option enable dragging and dropping was disabled.. and who knew this affected it.. how dumb of me.
thanks everyone -
