Okay, so recently I installed Crysis Warhead on my desktop, which was also packaged with EA Download Manager, which by the way I promptly deleted all shortcuts, because I don't particularly like EA, and seeing their logo on my computer annoys me.

Anyway, a day or two later, I booted up into my Vista, logged in, and noticed that EVERY SINGLE possible startup application has loaded, when I have cleaned my account, to make this not happen. Windows Live Messenger loads, even though I have never opened it, Adobe updater loads, RGSC (Rockstar Games Social Club) loads up, every thing loads. As you can imagine, this causes my system to be slow to the point of unresponsive for the first few minutes of logging in. I have tried a System Restore, which after I was done, I deleted all Crysis Warhead files, including save games, and the game folder in Program Files, but a few days later, the problem cropped up again. Also, after the problem came again, I noticed that Crysis Warhead was back on my computer.

I am going to try a System Restore again, but I fear this again will not be a permanent solution. I know the only true way to remove this problem is to reformat, but there are other users on here who do not particularly want to have to back everything up. Would the msconfig thing about disabling all start up programs work, or would that just be a temporary solution? I really would like to reformat, so I can have a clean slate to work on, but as I said, there are other users who aren't prepared to take that step, sadly.

Ironically, I have Crysis Warhead installed on my laptop, and have had no problems of this sort...

If you can do what you like and it reverts back then it sounds like a sandboxed system to me...

    Question is, what sandboxed it?

Sandboxed, Steady State - whatever you call it.

You set up your system - and on every restart it returns to that state - that's what happens to university computers as far as I am aware,.

Well, no, it wasn't the restart that triggered it to happen again. I had shut it down and restarted numerous times between the two happenings. I have restored it though, and while it's alright now, it's only temporary.
