Why? Why not use Windows 7 built in biometrics?

Problem is the biometric is pre Win7 and quite ancient so Win7 doesn't support it out of box.
Anyway it works so keep it up!

Because most apps don't support the new biometrics in Windows 7. Without an app like DigitalPersona I can only use the fingerprint to logon to Windows but not to manage other logon info.

I forgot to mention my notebook model: hp tx2000z.

And DigitalPersona is not as good as Bioscrypt VeriSoft Access Manager, It doesn't work with Cisco VPN Client v5 and MS Office Communicator 2007R2.

Still waiting for an updated version of Bioscrypt VeriSoft Access Manager or Authentec's TrueSuite.

I have installed the 8.4.2.0 or 7.9.0.4 driver but windows 7 still says it has not detected any biometrics devices?

Installing this one http://www.asustreiber.de/downloads/...33-fingerprint 2.0.0.4 works... So whats up with the 8 series not working while a 2 series work..? (for windows 7 built in biometrics)

    What is the difference between

    1) Authentec TrueSuite (keep giving Nvidia kernel stop errors) - Included with Windows 7?
    2) DigitalPersona
    3) Bioscrypt VeriSoft Access Manager

I have the ASUS M50Sv with the AES1610 reader. Windows 7 Home Premium is not finding the drivers for it. But the BETA version of Windows 7 (Build 7000) did find the drivers for it after running Windows Update. I used Windows built-in biometrics the entire time I ran the beta with no problems. So did Microsoft remove the support for the AES1610 in the Win 7 final release?

Are you sure Windows is not seeing it? Is it in device manager?

Windows 7 did install the drivers for me originally, but I had some oddities after installing the latest vitakey software. The vitakey software did not see the fingerprint reader even though Windows did.

I removed the fingerprint reader from device manager and software, then reinstalled and everything from scratch works.

It is in device manager as "Fingerprint Sensor" under "Other Devices" with a yellow exclamation point. Clicking on UPDATE DRIVER did not help.

Edit: I just deleted the entry from Device Manager and scanned for hardware. Still no luck. It comes back with the same info....Windows unable to install the device.

I had TrueSuite installed when my laptop had Vista. I wasn't crazy about the software. The simple Windows solution was much better for me.
