Does updating BIOS count as a change with Windows Product Activation (XP, Vista and 7)? How about other Microsoft Products or other software that require Product Activation in general?

Updating your BIOS generally won't change your product activation.

in general, no. the only general use case that updates the bios and changes activation is illegal.. and not a "bios update", per se.

When i bought Vista (early 2007) the activation tripped on bios updates, driver updates and sometimes it seemed to trip without any cause, i think i had to phone activate it about 10-12 times the first year. But after Vista SP1 i haven't had to activate it even once so i think bios and driver updates should not cause any problem anymore.

Yeah, Vista used a new BIOS activation mechanism, so early vista installations were vulnerable to false positives. This was all over the Internet.
