I have Vista Home Premium (of the 64-bit variety) installed on my desktop, and am wondering on if anyone knows if I could upgrade to Windows 7 Pro directly? I'm thinking that I'll first have to buy the upgrade from Vista Home Premium to W7 Home Premium, then buy another upgrade to go from W7 Home Premium to W7 Pro. It's kind of murky, and I think I'll be forced to pay more than if I was going from Vista Business to W7 Pro...

You can always do a clean install with the upgrade pack, atleast with Vista. I don't know how this will change with Win 7.
But AFAIK, you can only upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Home Premium.

Details about the official upgrade options will go live on June 26th here
