I upgraded my parents laptop from Vista to 7 (free upgrade from Acer). I always prefer to do clean installs to avoid any of the hassles that come with doing an upgrade.
Problem:
It can connect with limited access, then fluctuates between that and no access. Before this, it would always say identifying network or some other networking error.
I tried uninstalling the wireless network driver and letting windows reinstall a new one. Also tried downloading the latest driver, but this doesn't work either.
I have another laptop which is running 7 Pro (clean install) which connects just fine.
Any help would be appreciated. (I wasn't sure if I should have posted this in the networking, Windows 7, or acer forums. I figured that it is more of a specific Windows 7 problem.)

Are you by chance using a version of Eset security suite? I encountered a problem where Eset's firewall prevented wi-fi connectivity. Disabling (then uninstalling) the software solved that particular issue.

this probrobly isnt it but im going to post it anyway. one of my older laptops came with "special" software to locate and connect to wifi. it had its own little wifi animation and everything. This would often confuse windows own wifi locating service. I constantly lost connections and had poor signal. I had to manualy uninstall this "special" software and set it up to allow windows to manage my network. from that point on my connection was ok.

I had the same problem. And after a lot of research what that i did. Go to intel website. As i using a Intel platform and choose Intel auto utility and upgrade drivers. I choose it and i assume my chip set driver wasn't missing. After upgrading its working perfect.
Upgraded from Vista to 7, cannot connect to wireless network
