Oh My God - Freaking out here. Have a HP G60-458DX Laptop - Upgraded from Vista to 7 last November -I've like it better than Vista - Finally got Broadband yesterday - Looking forward to Streaming Netflix - When I had Vista I could hook up the laptop easily with the hdmi but my dsl speed was slow so I haven't been on for a while. - With W7 I couldnt figure it out at all and spent 2 hrs talking to HP Tech last night. The HDMI Cable would turn off the laptop screen. They finally said it was something to do with W7. All the drivers for Windows say I am up to date. My video card is a MOBIL INTEL (R) 4 SERIES EXPRESS CHIPSET FAMILY. I went to their website and downloaded an updated driver. Finally the hdmi cable didn't turn off my screen and using the expand feature in display setting I could get a bad psychedelic version of my desktop on my tv screen. I have played with the resolution but that just shrinks or enlarges the image. I've tried for a day and a half now. I know there must be a solution. Hate to have to reinstall W7 again. Any ideas? HP so far hasn't been any help. OH..My TV is a OLEVIA 232-S13

1- Go to INTEL own site and get the latest video card drivers from there. Make sure you uninstall the old one first, restart your computer and install the new ones.

2- Then, plug your HDMI cable to your system, that is linked to your TV. And Do Win key + P. This will appear a menu on your screen. From where you can select "Project only". This will turn off your laptop display, and only output on the HDMI plug.

Best Buy?! A person that knows his stuff, won't accept a minimum wage salary, which is close to what Best Buy and other retail store pay their employees. A person of such good knowledge in computer will either be found in a retail store during summer time (first or second summer job - pre-university years or first year of university), or a computer engineer or software engineer/computer science, which well don't work in retail stores. The only exception to this, are most (but sadly not all), small computer stores. Sometimes, they can help you out for free, as they know what they are doing, and it's a 2 sec job or something.

I am no GOD or anything alike, I just read documentation about the things I use everyday. I am also not afraid of hitting that F1 on the keyboard. You learn quiet a lot from those.

In this case, the instruction I provided to you are the ones shown for every computer hardware manufacture for Windows. As for #2, it's in the help documentation of Windows 7. If I recall correctly, it's also on the manual that comes with retail copies of Windows 7.
