    Hey guys.

I have windows 7 pro serial i bought before, But unfortunately i couldn't install it on my laptop due to some bios problems.

So it came to my mind to use vmware. Here what i done.

I installed win 7 in vmware > activated it using my serial > upgraded using windows 10 iso > now i have a windows 10 copy activated in vmware using my windows 7 serial,

I extracted the key using "KeyFinder | Magical Jelly Bean" > burned win 10 iso to a flash drive using rufus > made a clean install > used the serial i extracted before using keyfinder and now my win 10 is permanently activated on my laptop

    BUT

I made a search in google for my CD KEY and found some other users are using it

    VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

and the product id on my Laptop is different from the product id on my vmware

So is my windows legally activated or i will have problems in installing in the future?

I tried to contact windows support and ask them if my copy is legally activated but they didn't reply.

Installed windows 7 on my laptop then upgraded to windows 10 using a downloaded iso and ultra iso then made a clean install

made a search of my new CD key and still get results

Any idea how to check if the windows is legally activated or not?

I dont think that was a good idea as the key is usually tied to your hardware, now if you installed it on a VM the hardware isn't really what it shows in device manager but hey, don't take my word for it, I'm no pro on this.

Who cares if you see the key on Google. When you press windows key + pause, does it says windows is activated at the bottom of the screen? If it does, you're done.

The key you see in upgraded Windows is irrelevant. When you upgrade your win10 activation is tied to the hardware hash that is stored in the cloud. If your computer hardware never changes significantly, it will always activate without key.

Effectively you now have two win10 licenses, one in your laptop and another in virtual machine. Neither of them can be used in another computer.
