    Hello all,

I am just about to format my HDD and reinstall Vista from the disk I got from Dell. I was wondering if I could install the 64bit version on my M1730.(Currently have 32bit) As I have heard there are copies of the different Vista systems on the 1 DVD. Also will the key used still work with the 64bit version?

    Regards Jim

The key will work, but the disc you have will only contain the 32bit version. It does contain multiple versions but that only means Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate.

    Thanks for replying,

Well that good to know. So if I can get a copy of Vista 64bit and use my key it will work? Or do I need a dell specific copy of windows.

    Regards Jim

Any copy of Vista x64 will work on your notebook. The Dell versions just do a BIOS check so that you don't have to enter a key to use.
