I have an HP 8530w with both the 32-bit and 64-bit Vista cd's. Currently the 32 bit-os is installed. I don't have any serials for either disc besides the Windows product key on the label on the underside of the laptop and the current windows ID in the System Info window.
Can I install the 64-bit version using this info? Is there anything else I need?

From what I've gathered, yes you can. The serial for 32-bit will work for activating 64-bit of the same version level. Like say, you have 32-bit Home Premium, so you'd be able to activate 64-bit Home Premium. Though I've never tried this myself, I've read it's perfectly fine. You might have to call MSFT to activate it though.

Your Product Key can be used for both 32-bit and 64-bit, as long as it is the same edition (Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, etc.)
Use ABR (Activation Backup and Restore) to backup your OEM Product Certificate before you install 64-bit, then Restore it.

+1. Do as indicated and you will be set. -
If those are proper OEM discs, they will automatically activate without any user input.

They are the proper OEM discs. Thanks for the help and the link.
