Hi.
I am using XP sp3 on my Toshiba P30 , I keep getting errors when i transfer large compressed files from my desktop to my laptop using USB flash drives.
I have 2 different makes, I have also tried a USB card readed with a memory card.
I only have problem with large files , games demos over 500mb, even if i decompress the files on my PC and then transfer them to my USB card.
The files, games demos work fine on my pc, extract with 0 erros, but when i try them on my LAPTOP i get crc errrors.
I have checked my memeory for errors with the latest memtest86+ , also Windows DOS memory test.
I have also used a windows XP free memory test util and i get 0 errors.
The funny thing all my usb driver are dated 2001, on my PC they are dated 2006
I have tried searching for new drivers for my laptop, but i get the message that i am using the latest version.
I have downloaded 2 "USB 2.0" check utility and they say my laptop is OK
I have did a full format and re-installed Xp SP3 and i sill get CRC errors.
Any suggestion`s would be appriciated.
Thanks
John.

Copy those files back onto your PC from the flash drive and check if that new copy is still intact (use a checksum tool). If they are, something is wrong with the laptop. If they're damaged, it's either the flash drive or the PC.
Run this to test the USB flash drives, preferably on a third, known-good system. If you don't have access to any, run it on both the laptop and the PC. Errors on both = broken flash drive, errors only when connected to one system = wonky drivers/chipset/USB port in that box.
