Found this tweak over @ lifehacker.com. I quickly searched for this on here, but didn't find it. If it is here though, sorry for the double post.
Original thread @ lifehacker: Make Vista Use Multiple Cores to Speed Boot Time

It doesn't work

lame, i wanted to try this later.
sorry for posting this for the third or forth time. didn't know it was up here.
and i guess it doesn't work and can apparently leave vista unable to boot. lame lame lame. -
Yeah it would be nice if it worked, but apparently it does not. It seems to be useful if you want to use less cores than what it does by default. Not sure why you would want to do that anyhow.
Here's my boot-up tip: Use the sleep function or don't turn your computer off. -
I'm still trying to figure out what the topic title really means. Why would I want to increase my boot time?
I saw this option a while back, and since it was greyed out by default I figured Vista would just auto-detect and boot with whatever cores it felt it could use. -

The advanced option in msconfig is for 2 physical processors, not 2 cores. Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate are the ones which support 2 physical processors.

hm, i did put increase boot time in the topic title...
haha
should be decrease, except i guess it doesn't matter since it doesn't work anyway
this thread is begging to be closed, so if anyone would like to do so feel free -

As stated elsewhere this option is for servers with multiple processors not machines with mutli-core processors. Vista already handles the latter automatically.

I was in Europe on business for a week, so I had little time for fun activities like this forum! But I am back in the saddle again.

2 physical CPUs? Who would use Vista as a server OS?

Use multiple cores to decrease vista boot time
