Hi
I've got an Avermedia E501 Cardbus TV Tuner that works great in XP/Vista on my old Acer when using an Xbox 360 with it in the PAL 60 signal format that we have here in the UK.
I also have an Avermedia HC81 Expresscard TV Tuner which I use on my Asus, but it doesn't work in XP and it doesn't display the Xbox 360 signal properly when it's in PAL 60 mode and it has a lot of lag, it's fine when watching TV though (but only picks up channels in Vista so it's no use for watching TV in XP).
Avermedia are yet to solve this issue and it's been ongoing for over 6 months now.
So what I'm wondering is this - is it possible to get a converter, so that I can use the Cardbus TV Tuner in the Express Car slot on my Asus, if so what should I be looking for?
And would the lag still be present?
Thanks for any help/advice on this.![]()

You could use a pcmcia express card adapter to use the "XP" tuner card, but:
. Issue is the software that drives it. I am not sure if you can use the newer version or you must use the other one in XP compatibility mode
Not so sure about the lagging, since this is very much driver and software dependent/related.

Aha so assuming I can get hold of a pcmcia express card adapter (which I've just been googling for and they seem to be around £50) then I should be good to go as the cardbus tv tuner has little or no lag on it using the supplied software/drivers.
And seeing as both tv tuners use the same application but with different drivers, that must mean that the drivers for the express card tv tuner that Avermedia are supplying are rubbish, well when it comes to using it with a 360 anyway.
I guess they never considered anyone would want to play a current gen games console on their laptop monitor.
Using Cardbus TV Tuner in Express Card slot?
