I want to install windows 7 using the reinstallation disk Munro got from his Dell pc. I'm using a Dell inspiron if that matters. I leave the DVD in and restart the computer. Nothing happens. It either gives me bsod (reason why I want a fresh windows) or it just hangs durin the vista boot up. Any ideas or does the windows 7 disk simply doesn't work?

Check your BIOS settings and look for AHCI/COMPATIBILITY MODE. Set it to compatibility mode. ;)

I went to the BIOS, and changed it from AHCI to ATA, or viceversa, I forgot what I did. I tried both but both didn't boot the DVD. Could the DVD just not work at all?

Are the Dell Windows 7 specific to a certain computer or what =/

    Thanks for the post tho.

When booting your computer and when you get to the BIOS splash screen hit F12 then boot from CD.

Thanks for the post.. I did that and it only booted in Vista, not in Windows 7? I forsure have a Windows 7 Home Premium - as stated in the DVD-drive name when I load it.

When I reinstalled my Dell XPS it required the Dell intall disc to format the drive then install Windows.
