Hi, is there a method for Windows Live Mail Desktop to solely use Windows Contacts? (those in your c:\users\username\contacts folder)

Because WLM seems to want to use the contacts from Windows Live account; but I don't have one and I want to use gmail. The mail has already be set up but its just that the contacts cannot be used.

The reason why I want to use Windows Contacts as the central database for ALL my contacts is because:

    1. it is also where my N97 (using ovi suite) will be syncing its contacts to and from.
    2. so windows search can easily index the contact name and thus easily show up in the results.

I already tried the procedure in this link but it didn't work. I guess its because its a 3 year old workaround for vista.

I'm using win7 now and the latest WLM.

The only way I can think of for your situation is to import contacts from gmail to WLM by exporting your contacts from gmail as a .csv file and import that into WLM. Make sure your header/fields matches when you import. Alternatively you can use Thunderbird with the Google Contact's add on to sync contacts from you gmail's account.
