What happens if you use it for more than 1 PC?

    My issues:
-I have W7 pro key and a usb boot drive
-My desktop is in my college apt, I won't be there for half a year. The desktop is officially the one with W7 Pro.
-I bought a MALIBAL laptop with no OS. This replaces my desktop, and i will sell my desktop as soon as I get back to my college apt. This is what I officially want W7 Pro on. School also will provide W7 to the students starting January, so i might be able to keep Windows on the desktop and laptop.
-I currently have a Lenovo T500 that I will give to my mom. It has an OEM W7 Home Premium. I'm having some issues with the video drivers and I keep getting an error on boot. I figure the easiest thing to do for best performance and to clean up is to clean install, plus I need to install another language. The key for that is back in my college apt. So, I want put W7 pro on it temporarily.

You can transfer it a certain number of times without having to call MSFT...

What will happen is when you input the same code on another computer it might activate, but then it will deactivate the other. You can't have two machines on the same activation code.

if you have a retail dvd, then it will activate on more then one computer. it might even be ok via the license agreement if one is a desktop and one is a laptop. check the agreement. typically though if you have a retail disk it will install multiple times. oem works differently and is tied into the computer. they wont work on two and if you try like hal stated the other will deactivate. the oem license is meant for the original install computer and is non transferable.

Install Win7 in "trial" mode, and enter a key when your school starts selling them. You shouldn't even have to reinstall or anything, and you can reset the trial mode to keep running for at least 120 days, most likely longer according to what I've read. Perfectly legal.

I won't be with my mom and she will have no idea how to do this and I won't be able to explain to her in our language.

It's a vista key. I participated in their upgrade program for $30 W7. They sent me a disc. I believe the key is there.
