I bought an MSI laptop that has a recovery DVD for windows XP , can I use that DVD also for another computer that runs XP (for which I don't have a recovery DVD, I bought it second hand)

No because the recovery DVD would check for the model number and BIOS of the laptop. If it doesn't match, it won't install. And even if it did, the OS won't work properly because the drivers of the 2 laptops are very different.
