For all you Vista x64 users that have been going crazy like me, because you couldn't scroll with your notebook touchpad, have no fear, after weeks of searching I decided to try a Synaptics driver. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, BUT you CAN scroll vertically & horizontally.

    You can download it here:
    http://www.synaptics.com/support/driver_license.cfm?id=61

Make sure you uninstall your current touchpad driver first. Then install this one and reboot. Worked like a charm for me.

If that doesn't work I found this site right before I installed the above driver:
    http://www.x-drivers.com/component/option,com_remository/func,select/id,6335/

I didn't bother testing any of those, since my scroll works.

    Good luck!

Not demeaning your efforts at all, but they were available on Dell Support website long back !! Also they were readily available on Synaptics website

Perhaps they were, but none of them worked for me. I couldn't scroll, nor did I have the Touchpad feature set.

I retract my previous statement that the driver I linked above doesn't have all the bells and whistles. It does!

Can you scroll with Microsoft Office? And does it let u configure right clicking and middle clicking by number of fingers tapped on the touchpad (hope that makes sence)?

Yes, you can scroll with Office. I did not find a multiple finger tap option, but it does have Tap Zones (you can define an action for each corner). I was actually surprised to see the amount of features offered...more than I will use.

Sorry I should of been more specific, since Office (in general works), Microsoft Office 2007 is what i ment. Interesting that you can define tap zones, though dissapointed about the lack of multiple finger tap options (I've come to really love it).

the tap zones are nice, there are 20-30 options, one of which is opening a program. I'm not sure in Office 2007, I don't own it. You can always try and see!

UPDATE: You can even define a set of key strokes...like Alt+tab, CRTL+ALT+DEL, etc.!
