How can I make the Media Buttons (play, stop, forward, mute, vol up, vol down, etc, on the top of the keyboard) work with VLC player?

If VLC is selected, they do nothing, if I select soemthing else or click the desktop, they work fine...

I assume whatever solves this issue would allow me to use the Dell Remote Control, with doesn't work on VLC either.

    thanks!

This is why I use Winamp as music player and Windows Media Player as video player :) ;)

Well the remote works perfectly for music and stuff on iTunes or wtvr.
Windows media player is also another option. but a lot of people have started to prefer VLC due to its massive codec library.
IF you do want to use windows media player as your primary video player install "ffdshow" you can search it on google its FREE and it will install any missing codecs for windows media player and the such, to allow you to play basically any type of video file without a codec problem.
