    Hey guys,
Ive been hearing a lot about this VLC player which is weird because i have never heard of it before.

My question is how does it compare to say MPC?
Is it simple, fast, low on rescources, bloat free?
Can i throw it on a jumpdrive and use it anywhere without installing like MPC?

Im one of those people who likes to keep my computer super clean. I try to find alternatives and the most rescource efficient programs i can get. Would this be a good program for me?

yeah, it's bloat free.. low on resources.. can play virtually any video format.. you can throw it on jump drive. it's great.

VLC is quite good actually. I got the portable version from portableapps.com and have it in my flash drive. just in case i need to open a media file. But in my computer, i use MPC + CCCP, because that's what i'm used to. The two are nearly identical except that for VLC you install the program and you're good to go, but for MPC you have more choices: install the codec pack of your choice and all. So i'd recommend VLC if you want something that Just works, and MPC if you'd like greater control.

Hey thanks guys, I just dl it and it seems to work on the files that i couldnt play with anything else.

I did notice through a side by side comparasin, some videos are much more grainy than when they play in MPC. But i only play on using it for rare files that wont play with MPC.

Anyone know how i can get some on screen controls while in full screen mode?

Also, is the portable version your talking about still in a folder with all the other files used to run it i guess? Can i just take the vlc.exe and have it work on its own?

    Thanks
