    VLC slower than WMP?

    Playing the same MP4 I noticed that Windows media player results in 20% CPU utilization (Core 2 duo) while VLC sits at 60-70%, is it because I am not using the right setting in VLC?

    Version: both at the latest.

    Have you tried turning on gpu acceleration in the settings? , inputs&codecs section.

    20% is a lot even for windows media player mine only uses 7%-11% for mkv files. Same for vlc
