I'm looking for a video player for 64-bit Vista... I've good things about these two. Any recommendations?

I'm looking for something that loads quickly, doesn't require codec installs, and plays multiple video formats.

VLC your best bet if you don't want to install additional codecs. GOM works well too, but I find it doesn't decode certain file types as well as VLC and sometimes reads different subtitles. I do, however, like GOM's interface better.

For sure, but not without problems. For one, you lose the right click functionality while playing a video (to change aspect ratio, etc) and second the floating progress bar while watching a video fullscreen (the one that appears when moving your mouse)doesn't works with skins.

Well, I know you said you don't want to install codecs, but look at the K-Lite Codec Pack. If you install that, your Windows Media Player will be able to open pretty much any video file you throw at it, without another application.

I have GOMPlayer, but I prefer KMPlayer for its abundance of functions.

Tried all 3 mentioned in this thread. KM Player is by far the best.

KM player is good (but it did not work on Windows 7 beta on me).

I have seen recommendations of Kantaris player as a 64 bit alternative to VLC. I just started to use it, and the first impressions are good. Will see if it will replace VLC on me or not (I am on 32 bit system anyway).

Just tried KMPlayer, and it's actually quite nice! The interface is great and played everything I have thrown at it thus far. Definitely worth checking out. For those current users of KMP, do you know I can get rid of the color theme cycling feature? It's driving me a bit nuts.

With K-Lite, you can watch mkv's in Windows Media Player as well. It also allows you to play RealMedia files.

You can watch MKV's in WMP in CCCP. Under the settings tab in CCCP, you can check a box to register extensions with Windows Media Player.

I have never had a need to play RM files. Less baggage for my computer.
