Hi, I recently got SSH and VNC running on my Ubuntu box in New York... I'm in Atlanta. The SSH works great but the VNC is having issues. Every time I sign on, I get about 20 seconds of usage before I get the message "Error while waiting for server message" or "ReadExact: Socket error while reading". I've googled both terms and come up with nothing of value. I'm using the TightVNC viewer but from the limited info I've read, these errors occur on every VNC viewer. Any help would truly be appreciated!

P.S. - I tried to use RealVNC and now the error message I get is "read: Connection reset by peer (10054)" and then it offers to reconnect...

I run UltraVNC with no issues. Are you running a firewall? If so you may need to add port 5900 to the firewalls exceptions list.

    Good luck!
