    Just reformatted. I can't find the vaio event service for my vpcec290x online though, just the "update" which won't install without the original.

    The Vaio Event Service should have installed during the windows install. You will need to contact the Sony Support site or go to the Sony section of this forum. Somebody there may know where or how to get it. I updated my XP Pro to 7 Ultamate and The Vaio Event Service loaded automatically.
