Very laggy sounds

For some reason the netbook I have it very laggy when I try to play videos or anything. Basicly it makes a lot of echo sounds like lag type sounds like reverb on a stereo and I don't know how I can fix it. I can say that the other netbook I had before was basicly similar specs and it didn't do that. It was a Dell. I don't know if Gateway is different and gets laggy sounds from the netbook. It seems like when I' am trying to load something on it and if it plays and sounds like even Windows sounds it makes a laggy reverb like sound. I did install the latest sound card driver from Gateway already and also the video driver but the sound lags.



All I can say that Ubuntu didn't have this problem for some reason. I can say on Ubuntu wasn't able to play WoW on the netbook but Win XP it can play. I wonder why Win XP can play. But I can say that it seems to be very laggy and slow maybe that's why the sound is laggy. I don't know if I had Win 7 installed it would be better. The other netbook I use to have had Win 7 Ultimate and it ran smoother. But maybe Dell is different that's why it ran better.

 

So what is the model and make of the dell your talking about? Your asking alot of help and giving not much info or specs to be of hlep to know what your looking for help on. So do you have a Service Tag for that dell your talking about? And what other netbook are you referring to about? There are alot of help asked but not alot of info your giving to us to be of much help on and for what? And why would you play a WoW on a netbook it can't handle the graphics that is needed are you talking about a gaming laptop or a "netbook" cause that is a very small laptop to be using for game play.

 

I use to own a Dell Latitude 2100 netbook and it had Win 7 Ultimate and basicly that one ran smoother than the Gateway LT2016U netbook I have now for some reason. But both have the very similar specs and both had 2GB of ram. The Dell basicly stopped working so I got a different used netbook. I guess the main difference is that the Gateway I have has Win XP Home and not Win 7 so I don't know if that's the reason why it doesn't run smoothly. When I watched Youtube videos it didn't studder on the sound for the Dell netbook but for the Gateway it stutters when it tries to play any windows sounds or videos when the hard drive is working. It just gets annoying since it stutters a lot. But when the hard drive isn't doing much then it plays sounds fine like normal.

 

Codecs, flash, java, driver ... up to date?

It should be but I can say when I watch videos that I downloaded from YouTube using RealPlayer the sound that is played from them is choppy and at times it's fine but seems like it does get a lot of choppy sounds from the videos. But I did download flash and other stuff already from like Adobe or Java website and get the drivers from Gateway. Seems like when the hard drive is working a lot it gets laggy the most. But what's strange is that the older Dell netbook I had didn't have this problem. When the hard drive is just working little then Windows sounds sound fine. But forsure when videos are played it gets laggy sounds. Even when playing games. The RealPlayer I have is the latest and also others programs are the latest but I don't know if any codecs so I assume that since the programs are up to date that it has everything. But on my old Dell worked fine when I installed the same way as I did with the Gateway so it should work fine.

 

I still haven't been able to figure out how to fix this choppy sound problem. I tried lower the desktop res or tried to lower the colors to 16 bit or even tried to turn off the EQ and the Dolby sound effects and also lowered the volume like the wave and others to middle and have just the main volume on sound card to adjust the sound but that didn't help at all.

 

Audio issues are sometimes an indication high DPC latency. You can download and run this utility, but if you have Windows 8 installed, it's not going to work properly.

 

I have Win XP Home installed so it should of run very smooth but it doesn't. I think if I had Win 7 installed it would run better and then I will have to set to AHCI. Right now it's set to IDE to run Win XP. But I know that on a different netbook I had Win 7 it ran smoothly. I never tried XP on that system though so I don't know if it would of been the same. I know when I tried Ubuntu on the current netbook it works smoothly and doesn't lag on the sound. Now I don't know if the reason XP runs laggy because I' am using IDE instead of AHCI but I can't use AHCI since it won't even run XP and fully load it keeps rebooting.

 

XP has no native sATA support but you can load sATA drivers during installation, so that you don't have to default to IDE.
