when I play an mp3, then close, then play another, WMP will hang for like 10 seconds before it loads the next MP3.

the only way is to NOT close WMP and immediately play another song while the current MP3 is playing.

Overall, I am not pleased at all with WMP's performance. anyone experiencing teh same issue?

I had to unload most of my codex here. The only ones I use now is the Divx. I just don't have time to tweak with codex atm.

Uninstall all of your audio/video codec pack and see if the problem remains.

    WHOA!! PROBLEM FIXED GUYS!

I just thought of installing all the extra Windows Hot Fixes that I had earlier which I never installed as suggested by someone here as he didn't trust them. I installed them just to try what the heck! Problem gone 100%!!!!! w00t!

Build version is now updated to >>> 7600.20510

hotfixes are usually pretty good. If Microsoft decides to push out an update early like that, it's probably important or small enough to be annoying.

Something I just noticed is when I run WMP, it uses a ton of resources in the long run. Never experienced this with WMP on Vista though. I was playing a playlist for about 2 hours, minimized, and according to Task Manager, it was using around 195MB, in Vista, WMP would use about 32MB. In 7, even iTunes uses only about 97MB.

wmp in 7 uses your gpu to accelerate your stuff so that may be why it takes extra resources which is fine and wmp works fine here and the ONLY codec pack i use is Combined Community Codec Pack so if something don't play in wmp then use wmpc as Combined Community Codec Pack includes it.
