    Video Chat over lan?

    Is there software like Skype that will allow you to video chat and audio chat over lan?

    well, :) in my workplace all the chat programs r blocked guys.. :| cant run/use these.. anything which comes bundled with xp.. for lan only.. :)

    @DecaPODA, you could try www.meebo.com - Its an online Instant Messaging Program (In Browser). I believe it has webcam support as well. ;)

    I'm just a kid. The reason I'm wanting to do this is because I thought it would be cool to set up my pocket router with two netbooks/laptops and video chat between two busses on a school trip.

    mm.. meebo / imo.im .. these things works..but i dont want messenger services ..i would like to know if there s a way to send messages over the lan to other PC.. like the other fellow got no idea when it gonna pop out next :)

    A video message, no. The other person's computer needs to have an application up and waiting for the video to arrive.

    Now, if someone has not disabled the messenger service on his or her PC, you can use the old NET SEND command to send a popup at him or her--but in most cases the service is disabled now adays ever since malware users began using the service for illicit purposes.

    you can use my pc sharing software and do what ever you wanna do, voice chat,video chat any thing really.
