I know this might have been asked before, but searching didn't yield any good results. I need a new software to convert video files between various formats (i.e. flv to avi or mov to wmv) and merge multiple video clips together into one. I've found a few through googling, but they could only convert between limited formats, and, as per stated above, I want something that could do multiple formats.

    Thanks, :)

That software certainly supports a wide array of formats, but the quality of the conversions seems a bit lacking. Are there any settings I should adjust or other software you could suggest? Thanks

For video conversion i use WinAVI. It works great and is very easy to use.
WinAVI Video Converter is easy to use and powerful for experts. Just one click to convert with beautiful user interface. Burning VCD/SVCD/DVD is supported. It supports almost all video file formats, include AVI, MPEG/MPG 1/2/4, VCD/SVCD/DVD, DivX, ASF, WMV, RM, QuickTime MOV MP4, and Flash SWF. And it has a powerful video decompress/compress engine that convert whole AVI movie to DVD in 90 minutes.

And for Video emerging i use 'AVI MPEG RM WMV Joiner'
    http://www.boilsoft.com/
Support join AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, RM
    Support join ASF, WMV, WMA
Join video files as many as you want
Scramble and rearrange the video clips in the sequence that you exactly desire.
    Very User-friendly interface.

The quality of conversion depends on the codec your going to use and the amount of compression that your going to set. I also use SUPER if i want to convert a video file. The other FREE utility i also use is VirtualDub it can edit and manipulate the video and audio anyway you want and can also do batch conversion to any codec you want as long as you have that codec installed. I usually use Xvid, DivX and WMV. The choice of codec really depends on where you want to play it.
