Totally new at this so bare with me...

I have a number of .avi files that I was able to place together on a DVD using ImgBurn and play using VLC. The problem is, each has to played manually.
Ideally what I'd like is to have a menu with chapters or play all.

What would I need (a free program if there is one) and how would I do it?

Use the program DVD Flick which can burn almost any video file onto a Dvd, and i believe it creates simple menus too.

    Guide HERE

FAVC is good with AVIs too. It will convert them to a fully compliant DVD with menus.

I have a project going with DVD Flick now. Little did I know that it encodes the .avi files to play on a standalone player. I would have been happy with avi and a menu that worked with VLC.

If doesn't work I'll check out FAVC.

    Thanks.

Well, DVD Flick makes DVDs that play in an ordinary DVD player. You should still be able to play in VLC though as i think VLC can play DVDs

Well two attempts, they'll play on a standalone DVD player but I can't get the menu to show or function. I'll try again when I have more time.
