I'm looking to get back into video editing but i'm not sure what is considered good, that last time I did video editing was 2002 and I used Adobe Preimer 5.1. Basically the main fuction is to take my families home videos on VHS and put them on DVDs, but also doing current Videos and scanning in Pictures doing Slide show style videos, ect. I don't want to spend over $400 but thats more of a goal, right now I'm just feeling around to see if its feasable. I already have access to Photoshop. So what is all needed?
1. Video editing software? is Adobe Preimer still one of the better programs? Though i doubt it will fit my budget.
2. Hardware for all sorts of inputs...VCR should be the oldest.
3. Quality Scanner? I have an 3 in 1 Printer that has a scanner but i don't think that it is a decent scanner. I'll need a decent one especially since some of the pictures are nearing at least 80+ years old.
4. Decent Computer...right now i'm leaning towards either the Sager 5791 or the Sager 9261 both with 4GB of RAM and running XP 64bit, I have a feeling either of these should work. I know a desktop would be a better fit, but I want/need a notebook. I should be also getting a External HDD, I don't want to be carring all that data with me
5. DVD maker? or what ever it is called, Not the DVD writing software.
6. What am i missing?
Thanks
