hey everyone,
has anyone had this issue arise? when i have a folder filled with video files (be they, avi, mpg, divx, etc) - i no longer get the preview as the icon
when i had vista hp 32, the icon or thumbnail would be an actual frame from the video (maybe the first frame or something) - now, i just have some generic windows icons
ive installed a bunch of codecs, including the k-lite pack, but it still hasnt solved the issue
its kind of annoying...
any advice?

Hi
Well in vista 64 bit , thumbnails will be only generated if the media file has 64 bit codec installed on vista for example , if you have files such as .m2ts, .avi, .mpg, .mp4 etc , you might download some 64 bit codecs , assuming that it really installs 64 bit filters or codecs on your machine , but the fact is it does'nt , it install 32 bit codecs and enables 32 bit media player 11 to be the default and ; explorer (shell ) does not gets any help from these codecs to generate thumbnails ,
the work around is to open 32 bit windows explorer and explore video folders but make sure you install 32 bit codecs such as Klite codecs .
Creat a shortcut on desktop and name it as "windows explorer (32 bit)"
1) Right click on desktop
2) click on >New> Shortcut
3) type in the path without quotes "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\explorer.exe /separate"
4) navigate to videos folder or the drive which contains videos .
Good Luck

First install the 64 bit codecs, and then install the 32 bit ones, and your done. No need for any tips or tricks.
