I have quite a few videos and photos from the last two weeks that I need to edit. I plan to use Lightroom and a plug-in for editing my pictures and for HDR, however, I want to edit videos the following ways: create timelapse from high-res photos into 1080p 24fps vids (one picture will be multiple frames), create timelapse from 1080p 24fps vids and remove the audio track, snip videos removing certain scenes that were messed up in some way, and further compress my videos since my cameras bitrate seems to average a mighty high 18,000 kbps for 1080p 24fps.

    Any recommendations? Thank you!

There's enough of them to fill a database. Do you want prosumer or pro? How much do you want to spend? Its like ask for recommendation for a car that will go 100 mph: While almost any car can travel up to that speed, there's a big difference between traveling at 100 mph in a Porsche vs that same speed in a minivan.

Consider building a house. A single individual can build a roof one beam at a time or you can have a crane drop one one on in one fell swoop. That's exactly how your editors will work and apply the changes you need, so there's no simple answer.. You can spend $100-$1000 on an editor.

But wait, there's good news at the end of the tunnel. Because there's no simple answer, almost all of them will allow you a trial period of two weeks to a month so you can test it out to determine how little or how much of its features you need.

However, I still can't recommend any one of them without knowing more. Is this a one time deal, or will you be doing this regularly? How much time do you have to put into this?

And don't forget your computer. It will have to be compatible with whatever software you choose. Otherwise, you may not get to use the features it has if it works at all.

Have you ever done 100 mph in a minivan? I'll wager it's more exciting than doing it in a Porsche. :p ;)

100mph down 696 or 275 is the daily norm here. Seriously, was driving 90mph (in my minivan) in the center lane and was getting passed by a lot of cars.

Slightly off-topic, but I've done the same in a family sedan. It really is pretty fun doing things these sort of mundane vehicles aren't supposed to do.

80-90mph is the norm here as well.

I'd prefer on the cheaper end. I'm not sure if the cheaper editions of Sony Vegas or if Adobe Premiere Elements will do what I want.

That was my point. But Sony Vegas is a professional editing software. You may not want or need a professional editor when a prosumer edition will do. They're remarkable potent these days and can do an awful lot. That's why they make Premiere Elements.

Also look into Corel or Cyberlink Director. And once again, all of these are available for a free 15/30 day trial downloard.
