This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Viewpoint Media Player: Adware or Not?

    What do you guys think? It would help if someone posted on what Viewpoint Media Player does other than install itself into your computer without your knowledge...

    What I do know is that, other than doing the above, it renders 3d graphics from websites that you are viewing. It's kinda like a plugin for your web browser.

    The bad news about Viewpoint is that if you uninstall it, it will be installed again if you view a website that requires it. I don't know any of these websites so I can't help those who want to avoid those websites. Plus, according to the license agreement, Viewpoint actually collects information about the users' surfing habits and also information about the browser and OS as well. So, it may be an invasion of privacy.

    What do you guys think?
