Daemon-tools works fine now. They have versions that support Windows 7 without the need for CM.

However, I just use Virtual Clone Drive since it has always worked.

PowerISO is free as well. It will prompt you to enter license key but you can click cancel. The PowerISO will still working perfectly.

there is nothing wrong with daemon tools at all the reason why it doesnt work is because of the sptd the program uses. when win 7 first came out with the beta the sptd would not install. this is the reason why the daemon tools install would restart every time you rebooted the sptd didnt install. in order to get daemon tools to work flawlessly you have to install the sptd manually before you run the daemon tools install.

you can get sptd from here http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads/
(make sure you get the version you need either x86 for 32bit systems or x64 for 64 bit systems)

after that install your daemon tools of choice (daemon tools lite is the free one)

if it still wont work then you have to manually remove all traces of the sptd that failed to install correctly from your computer (this means files, registry entries, etc...) and then run the standalone install i mentioned above.

AFAIK, daemon tools works. It does require you to get an updated version.

Alcohol 52 is the best of the bunch IMO. Will also create disc image from a protected disc. Great when you want to run your games from hard disc image instead of the optical drive. Or when your slim laptop has no optical drive and you want to play games on the road.
