To anyone familiar with VirtualBox:
I'm running Vista 64 but am thinking of setting up an XP virtual machine to run a 32bit only program.
1) What's the minumum amount of HD space I would need to devote to it? (XP Pro plus MSWord 2007 plus, say, another half gig or so of software)
2) Would the virtual machine have internet access?
2.5) If yes, would I need to install anti-virus software on the virtual machine or would my host anti-virus program still protect me?
3) Is there a way to transfer files created in the virtual machine for use on my host (Vista) system? (I imagine there is.) What is the easiest/best?
Many thanks!!

I've used VirtualBox a little, so I'll try to answer your questions.
1. I'm not sure exactly how much space you'd need, however the virtual hard disks created by VirtualBox can dynamically expand depending on usage. So you could specify a 10GB hard drive, which would expand up to 10GB depending on how much space the virtual machine needs.
2. It is possible to set up network and internet access, although you can disallow the virtual machine from connecting if you wish. If you do allow it to connect to the internet, then you would need an antivirus and firewall (However you could always revert the virtual machine to a previously saved state if it gets infected, which may be easier).
3. It is possible to set up shared folders which should allow you to transfer files. I can't remember if Virtual box and drag and drop support. If it does then you could just drag a file from the host into the virtual machine. -
