Hi guys, wondered if you could give me some advice, i have avg free edition and during a routine scan it came up with 2 threats found.
it said it had found a trogan horse in a music file which was on my external hardrive (which was connected to my laptop at the time) i havn.t transfered the music from my external hd to my laptop yet.

just a bit concerned as to what to do now.
has it infected my laptop or externalharddrive (i havn't yet opened the file)

what do i do with it now?

also i have adaware free installed ,and when i scan with this it normally comes up with quite afew critical objects founds,
what do i do with them, i get the option to delete or quarantine.
    what happens with either option.

    any advice much appreiciated.

    thanks,
does this mean that the antivirus software has removed the trogan horse from the file on my external harddrive.
so is it safe to now open this and play the music or should i delete the infected album?

i'm not worried about keepingfile , more worried about corruption, but just wondered how the antivirus works.

    thanks again.

After deleting and rebooting, scan again. Download another scanner for a second opinion if you like. Spybot S&D is popular.

How did you get a trojan in a music file. What format is it (ie mp3, wav, etc) and where did you get it?

personally i would just delete that music file its not worth taking the chance of spreading it to your laptop
