I use AVG antivirus in my notebook, but since wednesday the system became extremely slow and the antivirus software goes down. So, I've decided to run a free scanning process available in a site called "Infectedornot.com", and it found 5 virus in the hard disk.

What is the best antivirus software for notebooks? :)

You might want to start out with Spyware - Search and Destroy. Zone Alarm for a good firewall to keep this from happening again, and that's all free for starters. See if they help you out.

Oh, and AdAware is okay too. There may be other suggestions from members, so feel free to take your pick!

    Welcome to the forums!

Are you sure that your AV is updated to the latest definitions? Just cuz you have an AV and it's on doesn't mean it's gonna stop everything if it's not up to date.

AVG is a good enough program that should keep your computer safe as well as most others to a certain extent. Maybe you visited some fishy websites/downloaded random files lately and that's what caused this recent infection.

I use Kaspersky AV on my new notebook. Have Norton 2005 on my old one and have used them for several years. I will be phasing out Norton altogether.
