So I went to a website that triggered my first ever alert by any virus detection (I used to use Norton, now NOD32). I wasn't quite sure what to do. I immediately closed the website, I clicked delete file option on NOD32 and then I ran an on=demand scan and clean.
About 15 blue lines came up in the process listing files NOD32 could not open. Other that that, NOD32 said it found no problems.
The note for all the files not accessed said that it might be in use by another program. I turned off everything I could think of except the basic programs running the computer... i.e., the wireless network, the synaptics [pointing device, etc.
I ran the scan again and again about 15 lines of blue came up describing file that could not be accessed.
I was wondering if this might signify trouble.
Here is an example of a couple of lines:
C:\pagefiles sys - error opening)File Locked)[4]
Several NTUSER.DAT files, ntuser.dat.log files, security log files, SAM.LOG files. Half were in Documents and settings, half were in Windows\system32\config. One exception: C:\System VOlume INformation\MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase - error opening (Access Denied)[4]
All lines were followed by note [4] which states file cannot be opened. I may be in use by another application or operating system.
DO I have to be worried?

You don't have to be worried.
Those files are windows system files that are always in use whenever the computer is turned on.
I've used nod32 on many many machines and this is normal.
When you clicked "delete" on the alert that popped up, it killed the file right there, before it even hits your computer. Thus it came up with nothing when ran the scan afterward.
If you are still concerned, post the entire list of files that it can't open and we'll analyze it for you. -
Yup, same thing happens with me. Windows, or other applications just lock these files. Those files are not usually targeted by viruses to start with. Because the virus won't gain access to infect them in the first place.
Most of the files you listed are windows system files or NTFS indexing files. -
Thanks, guys....
