I have been reading around for some time now people recommending 2GB of RAM for Vista. I agree with this statement; I think it is a great move. However, I'm also seeing a lot of people saying that 2GB is a MUST for Vista to properly run. I just want to debunk such a claim. If people want to get 1GB w/Vista, go for it. I have Vista up and running just fine on my stock Sony Vaio VGC-RA826G desktop which has only 1 GB of RAM.

I can second that; I've had Vista working relatively smoothly on 512MB as well. With Aero too.

As long as the paging file is adequate the OS will run fine. It might burp a little but it'll still work.

i have 2gb of ram with vista, and i have to say its kinda slow. i barely have any programs on it and its also home basic. i guess it "could" be because of the dual boot but if i had a notebook capable of higher than 2gb of ram then i would have upgraded but i dont, so im stuck with it

You have the same chipset as my Pavilion, so 3GB *should* work if you have the latest BIOS............

EDIT: I assume you have a Turion X2, and not a single core Sempron/Turion?

It really depends on what you're using it for. If you have 2gb and are only running email and internet, you wasted money. This type of setup would work fine with 512mb. However, if you decide to multitask, video edit, game, etc., 2gb is recommended for a better experience.
