I have a Vostro notebook. It came with XP home and as soon as I got it I installed Vista ultimate. I thought in the process of installing it, I erased the media direct portion, but I guess I didn't. I don't really care about Media Direct.
So here is the problem. Months of after doing this and having no issues, this morning I accidentally hit the media direct instead of the on/off button. It loaded the media direct, which was a suprise. It said that it couldn't load it because bitdefender was enabled and I need to disable it. Fine, I don't really care, so I turn it off, but when I turn it back on, it doesn't go to vista. It keeps going in endless loop back to the media direct. I CAN'T LOAD VISTA NOW.
F8 results in boot option for only Windows XP embedded or something like that. From the looks of it, my boot file or whatever it is called might have being overwritten by the media direct.
I can't reinstall windows. Any direction on way of getting back Vista?
