I have Vista Home Premium on a new HP dv9500t . . .
All my programs except iTunes is working properly. Downloaded the newest iTunes yesterday. Click on the iTunes icon and I get a little window that says . . .
"iTunes has stopped working"
[Then it gives me 2 choices]
"Check online for a solution and close the program"
"Close the program"
Under problem signature it says: "APPCRASH"
Any help out there on helping me to do a tweak to get iTunes hopping on the new machine?
Thanks

yeah its all over the web, cant say I have found a fix yet.

Apple update iTunes this past week . . . says it is now gaonna work with Vista for sure.
I love my new machine (HP dv9500t), but miss my old tunes and the ability to us my iPod connected to the new machine! -
Though Apple states that it's iTunes if Vista capable.. it's not. Mine say VBScript is not activated or present. Some say that if you have Zune installed it won't run well with it either.
-
Right now . . . I have this beautiful . . . sleak . . . tricked out . . . HP dv9500t . . . awesome machine . . . but with the Vista Home Premium . . . I seem stuck with using itunes on my old Pentium M dv4000!
There must be somekind of software glith I can tweak . . . cant believe iTunes won't run on this new machine! There has got to be an anser from someone out there! -

id install it on my pc and find a way to make it work but I dont want that program :/
if your missing a file try to download it manually or update it. -
I have no idea what file I am missing!

Is it that iTunes is not working at all or is a part of iTunes, such as downloading from the iTunes store the problem?
I have iTunes on my dv6000t with Vista Home Premium and it runs better than it did with my older HP notebook using XP Pro. Whenever I imported a CD with the XP notebook, the program often would freeze when importing a CD. It's not happened once with my 6000 and Vista.

Great to hear from you, Broadus . . . I download iTunes fine . . . three times now . . . I only have a problem when I click the iTunes icon and try to run it!
I get this:
-
I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't understand why there should be a problem. We have the same OS (didn't you say Vista Home Premium?) and similar computers. Is it possible that something tweaked from the dv6000t/dv9000t to the dv6500t/dv9500t is the culprit? I wouldn't think so, but I'm stumped.

I am at a total loss! I have no idea on what my next step to get it working is!
-
Dumb question, but...you already have Quicktime installed right?
-
Not a dumb question at all, DrewN . . . yeah, the newest version is on there!
-
I hate itunes to death. It's blanks out after registering 500,000 tracks, only 2% of my collection. Useless. IMHO, they never even thought it through for PCs.

Got iTunes working well with Vista . . . after having to get rid of all the HP bloatware with a clean install!
-
^^^noooice...congrats

Thanks Drewn! I know I will do a fresh install on any and every future notebook purchase (don't envision another desktop ever).

Yeah besides the last resort of a fresh install, make sure you have tried to run the program as administrator on vista, and also have tried various compatability modes.

iTunes and Quicktime doesn't work with Vista. I use a Quicktime alternative program. As far as iTunes I went back to XP.

I suspect if there were widespread problems with Vista and iTunes, the forum would be overrun with complaints. There were problems back in February, but they seem to have been solved.
BTW, I've been using iTunes on my HP since late February or early March with not a problem. I didn't do a clean install of Vista and I didn't remove much of the so-called HP bloatware.

Maybe you're talking about running Zune and iTunes at the same time, though. In any case it would be nice to see some actual examples of these issues, maybe it's user error. -
Let me clarify, it's Zune with iTunes. If you go to the Apple forums and search Vista, you'll see all the people that are having problems with it.
-
My apologies if I overlooked something in a previous post. I use iPod and iTunes on Vista and have no problems.

I am using Quicktime 7.1.6 here for viewing movies capture from my digital camera. No problem at all when using it under Vista Business.

I had the same problem before... but only at the beginning... i try to recall what i've done n the problem solved... eventho maybe its not really accurate...
but i do remember... i uninstall the itunes... n then i run registry cleaner... i tried ccleaner... but that time... ccleaner didn't clean everything... so i use "Vista Manager" to clean my registry... then i reboot.... then i install again my itunes...
it work nice after that... i remember i installed itunes 7.1 at that time... n now they release itunes 7.3 if i'm not mistaken...
hopefully your problem solve... i use itunes a lot too nowadays... since i bought my shuffle 2nd. generation -
