Has anyone had any success configuring a Windows based mobile phone as wireless modem on Vista ?

Despite activating BLUETOOTH on the mobile, i'm still not able to link the 2 together i.e setting up 'Bluetooth Device' on my laptop ?!

When i try & add a Bluetooth device from Bluetooth icon in the Control Panel i get a message :
Windows cannot find any Bluetooth devices....

I have managed to install ACTIVESYNC (Vista x32) on my laptop & managed to 'SYNC' the 2 devices together.

Do i need to install any additional drivers on my Vista laptop to in order to accomplish my task of using my mobile as Wireless Modem ?

    Pls. advise - Mave

Are you sure your phone supports 2-way BT data communication? VZ used to disable this on most of their phones and other carriers might have too. Or the phone may have an older BT technology that doesn't support the 2-way BT.

Have you successfully done it before? What kind of phone are you using? Does your carrier allow using your phone as a modem?

When you said you synced them, how did you do it? If Windows doesn't see the BT device, how did you sync them?

    Hi,

It's a I-Mate JASJAR which is a fairly recent model.

I had to download ACTIVESYNC from Microsoft as the CD that came along with I-Mate is only compatible with XP.

I'm VERY sure that both my laptop Dell D630 & I-Mate support BT Tech.
