Will they support a Vista to Win7 in-place upgrade?
I think I can get an MSDN account through my school, so I think I should be able to get it for free - but I have a feeling they're only going to offer the Professional version of 7 when it comes out, but I'm currently on Vista Home Premium.
Being the lazy person that I am, I'm not a big fan of reinstalling all my software. Will I be able to upgrade my Vista Home Premium to Win7 Pro?

Straight answer - No. You can't upgrade from Vista home premium to Windows 7 pro, but only to home premium. This was the case with Vista and XP.

The solution to this is to download RC1 that's currently out, then upgrade Vista to that and then upgrade RC1 to Windows 7 final Ultimate and your all set.

If you cant get an MSDN account, sign up for IEEE since they give you free software through MSDNAA
Not sure that will work; Ive read in another thread you will likely need to clean install. -
Microsoft don't want people to upgrade to the RTM version of Win7. It can cause problems. But they have also stated that you can upgrade to the RC from Beta by changing the minclient version. So I guess it would be possible to upgrade to the RTM from the RC version.

How do I go about changing my Miniclient version? Is it just a patch they released?

It's not a patch, you need to modify the file that checks what version software you are using before it allows you to upgrade windows.
I found it on a MSDN Blog site last week. It's a bit of a read, but here's the link you need.
