    Hi Guys,

I'm used to being able to access the local administrator account on my XP for specific administrative tasks. Also you need this if you need to go into the Recovery console.

What is the default local administator account's password on a Dell Vista HP machine and how do access that account?

Your user account is the default administrator account. It just elevates privileges when necessary. What are you needing to get into the Administrator account for?

And what exactly is a Dell Vista HP machine? It can't be made by both Dell and Hewlett-Packard...

I just wanted to know how and what the admin account password was just in case I ever needed it. In XP, I always kept the admin and my passwords different.

Sorry, it's a Dell Inspiron running on Vista Home Premium (HP).

i suppose... your account is the admin account... only when you need to run something using admin access... you just need to right click n click on the option "run as administrator"...

but more detail on which vista have the "admin" account by default... i'm not sure... cause what i've been informed till now... my default user account is my admin account... not like my previous XP... but I need to check it back incase the info was wrong... :)

Yeah. I believe that Microsoft has moved to a more modern model of only users in the administrators group having administrative access, and that's never on 100% of the time. You have to actually enable the administrator account if you want to log into it. It's otherwise disabled, so you don't need to worry about it unless you really, really want to, and it's highly recommended against.
