I installed ATI Tray Tools and all was fine, then i uninstalled it and Windows Vista Aero has gone, it isnt available to choose from the themes. I have noticed that teh normal ATI icon (not the ATITrayTools icon) has not loaded on bootup, so i restarted it by clicking on the control center icon, but it never appears!

Please help! i have reinstalled the ATI driver and control center, so what do i do now?!

i havent fried my GPU have i? i better not have.

You should do a system restore to the point before installing ATI Tray Tools, it should help.

I know aero disengages when you install updated drivers, try manually enabling aero. if that doesn't work, could be u need to reactivate Vista.

Vista will turn Aero off if software that does not support the graphics is installed.

Sorry to bring this old thread back to life, but I have the solution for Aero disappearing.

Make sure your colors are set to 32 bit instead of 16 bit. Aero needs 32 bit colors to run. Sometimes the display settings change, it's weird but hey, there's Vista for you.
