    So I have a new laptop (M17x R2), and I upgrade its HDD, I am taking its old HDD (320GB 7200rpm) to upgrade the HDD in my Dell m1330.

    Here's the challenge.

    The m1330 had win7 Ultimate x64 installed on it, I have the key for the Win Ult. x64. Originally my m1330 had Vista Home Premium x32. Originally, I downloaded the trial Win7 Ultimate from MSFT, upgraded my Vista to x64, installed the trial...when the trial ran out, I had to buy Ultimate x64 (kinda dumb in retrospect, I should have tried to save $$ w/ Win 7 Pro, but the upgrade path was dicey since I already had trial).

    Long story short, I am burning Vista x64 to a DVD right now.

    Do I go this path:
    Vista Ult x64 (will my key work? I guess I will find out)
    --> Win 7 x64 upgrade

    or

    Vista Home Premium x64
    --> Win 7 x64 upgrade (will the upgrade key work??)

    I have feeling I will try option 1, get an error saying my key is not valid, then have to install via option 2 and either get lucky and it will let me, or I will have to install Win 7 Home x64 (is that even a version?)

    I guess I will find out via trial and error unless anyone knows.
