So I know retail CD Keys will activate either a 32bit version or a 64 bit version of vista. But will OEM keys do this?

They do. I've activated x64 Vista Home Premium with the key that was on the bottom of my laptop(the OEM key).

Well, not sure. Some ideas are yes, some are no as I search on the internet "forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=4102608&SiteID=17"; "forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?t=88723"
    I think you should ask M$ ;)

I recently purchased Asus N50vn with Vista Ultimate 32bit (OEM) I have the key on the underside of the notebook, it does NOT work when trying to activate with Vista x64 Retail.

Yes, the key works, but you have to call for activation.

OEM keys do not work with retail versions.

You need a 64 bit oem copy for the key to work.

I've used an OEM key with 64bit worked fine, had to activate by phone with no issues.
