My Vista 64 bit install makes the lappy work great! only 1 issue. I need to be able to put it to sleep and have fast access.

I cannot get it to wake up without scratchy (sound driver corruption?) noises then sound is out-It then starts making random scratchy sound as you move through programs until you reboot.

It does not do this with 2x 1 gb or a 2gb memory stick just anything above 2 gb causes the issue. It is not very efficient with only 2 GB. Would like my dual channel 4 GB as it runs sweet otherwise

Who is the genius that can help me with this???

No issues waking from sleep and sound here. Have you updated the sound driver?

Not a bad ram issue. I have tried 2 sets from other laptops and it works fine. The issue is with 2gb ram awakes from sleep. 4GB ram it corrupts sound upon awakening. Otherwise everything is good.

As goofball said, sounds like a sound driver issue. Especially with x64 and a change in hardware, check to see if the manufacturer offers an updated version.

If it works correctly with 2 gb memory installed. then doesn't work with 4gb memory..I think it is a BIOS or Vista 64 issue. The BIOS is up to date. Are you using a T-1616?

What model is the laptop? Some laptops have had "issues" with 4GB of RAM. Have you checked to make sure you have the most up-to-date BIOS and chipset drivers?

It is a Gateway T-1616, I have the most updated bios, It worked with 4 gb in 32 bit of course recognizing 3 gb. As I said I believe it seems to be a hidden bios issue like s1 s3 mode
