    hi i ordered a dell laptop with vista ultimate but they gave me a 32 bit version when i get my laptop will it come with the serial number so i can make it 64 bit over microsoft?

    and if so whats the link to that area of microsoft. thanks

    It's the same, just use the 32 bit number

    the thing is i want the 64 so do you know if they give you the serial number with the laptop so i can upgrade it because i got it with 4 gigs of memory and want to be able to use it all

    just use the same serial number what you have now to install the 64bit version Vista Ultimate and Ultimate Version supposed to have both the flavors in the DVD (32/64)

    That only applies to the retail boxed version. OEM Vista discs (including Ultimate) are generally either 32-bit or 64-bit, not both.

    Anyway, yes it will come with a serial number (key) you can use to install 64-bit.
