Have you tried using a differ browser? Clearing the download history? Choosing a differ download folder? Or checking security software?

Also some Download Manger plugins might interfere.

Umm better download new installer(64bit) from firefox using the old one. Not good moving installations.

Apparently some "virus scanning" which the browsers do is the problem, search in IE settings about that and disable it.

its not a great start by it yet, downloaded the 64bit version but on the completion part it has frozen :(
right i closed it but it seems to work now, only thing i dont like it how the download section is part of the browser and it disappears really quick.
any idea on how to make that stay there until i want to close it?

Oh ok glad you make it work. Don't worry about not been able to rep me :D

By the way why do you switch to 64bit anyway? It seem so far you get more problems than advantages ?

    okay :D
i needed to reinstall vista due to quite a few errors and it had become bloated with loads of crap, i has also used some programs (tune up utilites) that i think coursed mostof the errors.the reason i chose 64bit was:

1,im going to be upgrading to 4GB soon - i think ill need to use all of that for my graphics work

    and

    2 i had forgotten my 32bit disc

i know it coursed me a lot of problems but i hope the worst of it i behind me now :D

    Ok good reasons I guess.
